On April 12th, LANY will take the stage at D.C.'s concert venue, The Anthem. Consisting of lead vocalist and guitarist Paul Klein and drummer Jake Goss, LANY takes their sixth album, Soft, on tour with the Soft World Tour.
Soft, their latest album, released in October of last year, details a new side of LANY—an unearthing of their vulnerabilities. Following a terrifying incident where Klein’s Vespa scooter was hit by a car and the subsequent stay in the ambulance, this album embraces the tenderness and openness required for internal and external healing. Klein redefines “softness” in their album, painting a new picture of what it means for men to learn how to hone in on their emotional vulnerability and how to articulate their emotions, and this album acts as an ode to his own process of staying “soft.”
The poignant album cover encapsulates the urge to protect the soft being of one’s body. An innocent lamb finds itself cradled close to the chest, embraced by a pair of bruised and bloodied hands. A hard fight back to the world to protect what is pure and soft.
With 22 million streams on Spotify, their top track of Soft 2, an extended version of Soft, “Stuck” reminisces on being the one unable to emotionally move on from a relationship despite the passage of time. It shows a different version of the current internet rhetoric where “yearning” is often looked down upon by men by showing that staying in place because of a wanting of another person is a normal, valid emotion. In a society where "situationships" are in abundance, LANY takes a step back and says “no.”
Alongside LANY, Aidan Bissett and Riah will take the stage as openers.
