Preview: Wishy at the Atlantis on Oct. 18, 2026
In support of their newly-released album Nature’s Pill (2026), Indianapolis-based indie-rock band Wishy will be treating The Atlantis to their upbeat 2000s flair. This Sunday, October 18, opener Dead Sullivan will kick off the show at 6:30 p.m. with a leisurely guitar-led set; concert-goers can expect a night of lighthearted indie music that will have them nodding along.
Composed of vocalists/songwriters Kevin Krauter and Nina Pitchkites along with Dimitri Morris (guitar), Mitch Collins (bass), and Conner Host (drums), Wishy puts a delightful new spin on the familiar indie-rock playbook. The band’s 2025 EP Planet Popstar generated internet buzz for its 90s-esque combination of acoustic guitar with electronic drum loops (the single “Fly” was my personal gateway to the band).
Stepping into new creative territory on Nature’s Pill, Wishy delivers a jovial 42-minute whirlwind of scratchy guitars and fuzzy, stylized vocals that feels straight out of a 2000s teen movie soundtrack. Notable standouts include the alt-rock inspired “Headscratcher,” and the dreamy “Covergirl,” reminiscent of shoegaze greats like Lush and my bloody valentine. Nature’s Pill is a catchy and expertly-produced foray into the intersection of dreampop, shoegaze, alt-rock and trip-hop influences. Wishy’s exuberance is infectious: the playful “Sensational,” is a jaunty musical pep-talk, while “Mona Lisa,” feels like the band’s own “Semi-Charmed Life.” None are complete without the band’s signature tongue-in-cheek flourish, as even heavy emotions are softened with levity.
Concert-goers are in for a night of nostalgic and carefree tunes, and most importantly, a whole lot of fun.
