Preview: Dogstar at the 9:30 Club on Aug. 11

Following the release of their newest 2026 album, All In Now, alternative rock band Dogstar is taking the stage at the 9:30 Club. Following an almost 20 year hiatus, band members Robert Mailhouse, Bret Domrose, and Keanu Reeves officially reunited in 2022 with a new energy for music-making and performance. Although best known for their bassist, actor Keanu Reeves, Dogstar is also known for playing with bands such as Weezer and Rancid, who went on to achieve fame of their own after opening for Dogstar.

For their upcoming performance at the 9:30 Club, fans should expect a medley of songs from their 2023 album Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Tree, and their newest album released May 29 of this year, All In Now. All In Now ushers in a heavier, more melancholic era for Dogstar, but no less sentimental than prior works. Maintaining the 90s grunge feel from which they originated, the album evokes the sentiment of a continuous jam session, pouring out the complicated, bittersweet feelings of struggling love. Supported by rock band The Backfires, who just released a new single, “Super 8,” this upcoming Dogstar show will take the 9:30 Club to a moment of poignant and tender reflection backed by solid guitar riffs.
