Wendi

This semester, I have had the honor of working with Wendi in running the Indy. Throughout my time at Georgetown, there are very few people who I’ve known to have a more beautiful mastery of the written word than Wendi. In both her writing and editing, her vision of a piece’s flow is almost as musical as the many instruments she plays. As such a skilled musician and wordsmith, we have been so lucky and grateful to have had Wendi as a core party of the Indy. While I am so sad to see her go, I know that whatever Wendi encounters in the future, she will take to it with the same commitment, elegance, and unwavering passion we were graced with during her time here. Wendi– you are amazing! Never forget it– we won’t forget you.

Brendan

It’s hard to define anyone down to a few sentences, especially when you waste the first one saying so. But Brendan’s impact on the Indy is truly something that deserves pages not a paragraph to recount. Brendan Carroll is the welcoming force that makes every new member of the Indy feel they have been a part of this community forever, the ingenuitive mind that keeps the Indy evolving and changing for the better with each new idea, the life of the party that leaves never a dull moment in Leavey 409, and the versatile writer that never misses a chance to highlight the creativity constantly happening all around us in the District of Columbia. RIG (Rest In Gr*duation) Brendan Carroll, a true friend to the Indy, the arts, to me, and to many.

Grace

Everyone who has ever been to an INDY meeting has heard from Grace and I that we went to high school together. Grace has always defined the INDY for me, even before I came to Georgetown, and I cannot picture the INDY without her passion, influence, and friendship to all of us. Whether it be through her many Taylor Swift takes, her endless dedication to watch every best picture nominee each year, or her kindness to everyone whose presence she’s graced during a pitch meeting, party, or craft night, nobody encapsulates the INDY like Grace Copps. While what lies ahead cannot be entirely known, one thing that’s for sure is that this is not the last you’ll hear from her: she will continue being her most authentic self no matter what, and it will bring her the love people can’t help but find for her even beyond the INDY grave (graduation).

-Maxine “Did you know we went to high school together?” Messina

Ceci

During icebreakers and introductions, Ceci sometimes mentions that she “doesn’t really listen to that much music or watch that many movies,” but I don’t think it’s even remotely possible to downplay how cool and awesome she is. In fact, I think you would be hard pressed to find a more INDY person on this campus. Ceci has been at the core of this club ever since I joined as a freshman, and was one of the first people to really welcome me in and get to know me. I would be lying if I said I don’t admire her effortless writing style, captivating personality, and amazing fashion sense. She also put me on to American Studies, and for that, I will forever be grateful. Ceci has worn so many different hats within the INDY and flourished within every one of them; she will be very dearly missed, but we know with her creativity, talent, and drive, she will go on to do only the awesomest of things <3

Kami

Kami embodies the true storyteller’s spirit of the INDY. She has a special talent for making people feel welcome and heard. Through every takeout dinner, movie night, and INDY social, she’s put a smile on my face and given me the sisterly insight I never knew I needed. Although she calls me out for my dramatics when I say the INDY won’t be the same without her, it remains true. I’ll have to put my personal sadness aside and just be excited for her future, because I know whoever she encounters will be charmed and whatever project she puts her mind to will be executed with care. Kami, we will miss you, but we’ll think about you every time someone mentions Taylor Swift, so you’ll never stray too far from our hearts.

Brigid

As the genuine backbone of the INDY, Brigid has the most insane mind I have ever encountered when it comes to design. Not only has she been our beautiful cover designer for the past few semesters, but she is also one of the coolest people on this campus. Every time I see Brigid crossing by, I am swept off my feet by her nonchalant bangs, irreplicable aura, and effortless swag. Beyond holding true to those INDY values, Brigid is one of the most approachable people I have met at Georgetown. Her overall demeanor is always one of serenity and acceptance, and I really admire that among the bustle and tussle of our insane hustle culture. We will miss you and your wonderful mind Brigid <3
