On October 19, Yung Lean’s “Forever Yung” tour hits The Anthem. Jonatan Aron Leandoer Håstad, best known by his stage name Yung Lean, is a Swedish rapper known for his contributions to cloud rap. His first projects, released with Yung Sherman and Gud as “Sad Boys” on SoundCloud, are where he first gathered a following. Since then, he has leaned more into underground rap and heavy production as Yung Lean, while releasing his more stripped-back indie rock projects under the name jonatan leandoer96. This May, Yung Lean released his fifth studio album, Jonatan . As Kieran Press-Reynolds put it in Pitchfork , this album is emblematic of how “these two sides of himself have increasingly fused into one. Yung Lean is now focused on matrimony, kids, fraternal devotion, the simple bliss of an understated, mundane life.” Håstad, now sober, has framed this tour as a memorial of sorts to his old self, reflecting on his past drug use and mental health challenges, and a rebirth into this new phase of his life and career. On his 2025 tour, fans get to see a new side to the ever-evolving, forever young, Yung Lean. Micaeli Dym is co-executive editor for the Indy, and a senior in the SFS studying Culture & Politics.
